Mascot is appointed as Principal Contractor for the delivery and co-ordination of the COMPASS (Composites at Speed & Scale) project at the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC).

Funded by Aerospace Technology Institute, SYMCA, Sheffield City Council and the University of Sheffield the facility is a unique open-access composite innovation centre located at the Advanced Manufacturing Park between Sheffield and Rotherham.

The project focuses on developing advanced manufacturing techniques for large composite components, with the aim of increasing production speed and reducing costs for the aerospace sector.  It supports collaborative research between the AMRC, Boeing, Spirit AeroSystems, Loop Technology and other industrial partners.

The 29,700ft² facility involves the phased installation of high specification manufacturing systems, including a hydraulic press, curing oven, robotic automation and integrated services.  Work began in October 2024 with formal handover scheduled for March 2026.  Mascot is appointed as the Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.  Company Director Jason Evans leads the project as Principal Consultant overseeing construction planning, logistics, contractor co-ordination and health and safety compliance.  Delivered within a live operational environment, the project aligns with AMRC and University governance.  Mascot applies our best practice systems to ensure safe, phased and compliant deliver of this nationally significant facility.
