- SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) Ward refurbishment (c. £5.5m)
- SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) ward refurbishment due to Covid 19 the service had to make changes to ensure the ward can meet the social distance requirements. The requirement was to convert wards 2 and 5 to create larger surgical assessment.
- The unit houses a new surgical assessment unit with 15 cubicles, 26 acute surgical inpatient beds, a procedure room and a new surgical ambulatory area for up to 10 patients. It also has a new ‘hot’ clinic where recently discharged patients are reviewed within days of their hospital departure by consultant surgeons.
- ENT Block Theatres 1, 2 & 3 at Bradford Royal Infirmary (c. £3.5m)
- Refurbishment including the replacement of the ventilation systems and plant in ENT Block theatres 1, 2 & 3 at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
- Ward 10 refurbishment (c. £2.5m)
- Refurbishment into peri-operative care unit.
- Isolation Rooms in A&E (c. £1.8m)
- A new high dependency unit (HDU) cubicle facility to provide state-of-the-art negative pressure rooms as the hospital enters a ‘new normal’ with COVID-19. Based within the Accident & Emergency Department, these rooms allows the Trust to offer safe care to all patients at risk of, or infected with, an airborne infectious disease (Covid 19 pandemic, the inevitable arrival of seasonal influenza, the prevalence of TB and the inevitability of future pandemics).
- The eight new mechanically ventilated isolation rooms will use vents to create lower air pressure inside the room and ensure that when the door is opened, no air escapes into corridors which lowers the risk of spreading airborne diseases.
- Staff Changing Facilities (c. £700k)
- Covid 19 changed the staff’s approach to changing and showering at work and highlighted the need to provide a modern, fit for purpose, changing facility that was central to the site, allowing access for all.
