Mid Yorks NHS Trust's Surgical Hub at Dewsbury and District Hospital is a BREEAM Excellent, state-of-the-art centre aimed at tackling Covid-related surgical backlogs, significantly increasing capacity, reducing waiting lists and improving patient care. As one of 50 new hubs opening across the country, it is estimated that over 65,000 additional episodes of care will be given at the Surgical Treatment and Diagnostic Hub each year. It provides additional capacity for patients in the region for surgical procedures and outpatient services.

The Hub provides ten outpatient clinic rooms, four treatment rooms for small procedures, and two operating theatres for patients requiring general anaesthetic. All patients are treated as day case patients, with no need for an overnight stay. The hub uses innovative pathways for some groups of patients, depending on the procedure they need, and introduces more 'one-stop' appointments, cutting down of the number of times patients need to attend hospital.

The Surgical Hub also incorporates the latest technologies and equipment to ensure patients receive the best possible care. It is also constructed to BREEAM Excellent.
