The project adapted the current theatres at Pontefract General Infirmary to be Laminar Flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery. These will be used for a variety of surgical procedures, particularly those requiring a high level of cleanliness.
The theatres utilise specialised filtration systems to create a sterile environment, minimising the risk of infection during surgery. The theatres are equipped with ventilation systems that utilize HEPA-filtered air and laminar flow to create clean zones around the operating table, reducing airborne contaminants.
