PFI

Procuring projects through the PFI route are now commonplace for large projects in the public sector where the transfer of risk to a Special Purchase Vehicle (SPV) is promoted by Central Government through the Treasury Task Force.

The SPV will take on the responsibility for procuring a facility and its operation and maintenance for a period which is normally 25 to 30 years, in return for a unitary charge paid monthly by the occupier to the SPV throughout the term.
