Winter Street Refurbishment - University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield required refurbishment and remodelling of the Winter Street building, occupied by the Departments of Geography and Town and Regional Planning.

Mascot were appointed as Construction Manager on the First Phase of this refurbishment, this being the first project where the University had used Construction Management as a form of procurement.  We were able to make a start on site within 5 weeks of having been appointed, enabling the University to achieve a very tight programme of "noisy" demolition and strip out works prior to the new term commencing and aiming for completion of the first phase by Christmas 2009.  These works include:

  • New Geography and Town and Regional Planning Departmental offices.
  • New seminar/meeting room.
  • New postgraduate studios.
  • New partitions and doors, underfloor heating floor finishes, built-in storage with uplighters, part height insulation to external glazing, acoustic infill to coffers, suspended up/down lighting, electric and data distribution.
  • New partitions, appliances and services to form new toilets and kitchen.
  • New staff/student common room.
