Paradise Street, Liverpool
A significant part of the Grosvenor Developments flagship redevelopment of the retail and commercial sector of Liverpool to compliment 2008, their Year of Culture.
The east side of Paradise Street comprised 9 sites with a number of mixed use developments, mainly retail with a significant amount of residential and some commercial space and car parking. The site included existing buildings that were refurbished, some listed and required a significant amount of temporary works for the removal of part elevations and facade retention.
The new build projects each had their own architectural teams, with very individual designs and differing styles and structures. Balfour Beatty Construction Northern Ltd (BBCNL) were appointed in December 2005 by Grosvenor to deliver these projects by 2008, with a contract value of £110m.
The schemes were being procured either under design and build or 2 stage tender. Mascot were appointed by BBCNL to manage and coordinate the design process to meet the procurement programme and to achieve the very tight construction programmes.
