Longlands Mill, Stalybridge
Scott Wilson were appointed in January 2003 as Project Managers for this major redevelopment scheme in the centre of Stalybridge.
Mascot were sub-consultants to Scott Wilson on this project.
Longlands Mill dates back to 1805 and is Grade II listed, being one of the few remaining examples of a nineteenth century Cotton Mill. The site has been derelict for a number of years and been the subject to a number of failed private sector re-development schemes.
The site and adjoining areas were purchased by Tameside MBC to secure the redevelopment of this key area, using funding from Northwest Regional Development Agency. Our task was to undertake the renovation of the main mill building to a basic shell and secure the demolition of the ancillary buildings to provide a redevelopment opportunity for the private sector.
On behalf of Scott Wilson, working as their Project Managers, we led the design team through the feasibility, design, procurement and construction process with one of our main tasks being to obtain Listed Building Consent for the proposed works in accordance with PPG15.
Urban Splash won the development competition to deliver a mixed use scheme utilising the Mill and adjoining sites and also undertook the renovation of the Mill Buildings as Contractor.
