Leeds City Museum and Resource Centre
Mascot project managed this project through the Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund application and through the pre-contract stages.
Mascot acted as sub-consultants for TTPM on this project.
Since 1999, when the original museum was closed due to safety concerns, Leeds has been without a museum.
However, in July 2002 they were awarded Stage One funding to develop proposals for the refurbishment of The Leeds Institute Building, a Grade II* listed building currently used as the Civic Theatre, to become the new City Museum based at Millennium Square in the centre of the city.
The Institute building was designed by Cuthbert Broderick in 1865 and is now planned to become the home for the City´s Collections, some of which are of national importance. The Collections are currently stored and displayed in the current Resource Centre in Yeadon.
A new Storage and Research Facility is also planned, built to enable safe environmentally controlled storage of the Collections not displayed in the Museum. The total value of the project is estimated at £26 million.
As sub-consultants, Mascot provided Project Management services to prepare a Stage 2 Heritage Lottery Fund capital bid and manage the design through the pre-contract stage.
